Creative Director
The Creative Director works to create the brand identity of Threads, using inspiration from previous publications as well as bringing new and fresh ideas to the magazine. The Creative Director will work closely with the Marketing and Social Media Director to curate the Threads brand identity on social media as well as the Design and Layout Editor to design the magazine in the Spring.
Expectations
Possess a strong creative vision and possess creative skills to execute the vision.
Comfortable designing in Canva.
Communicate effectively with Editor-in-Chief and Design Team.
Assist Design and Layout Editor and Marketing and Social Media Director as needed.
Design & Layout Editor
The Design & Layout Editor works to bring articles to life by incorporating creative layout design and form to enhance written content. The Design & Layout Editor works directly with staff writers to best showcase their talents on web and print pieces. The Design & Layout Editor also works closely with the Creative Director to establish a Spring theme, curate a visual aesthetic, and design the layout of the print issue.
Expectations:
Design and/or provide graphics for web pieces.
Establish Spring theme and design print layout.
Edit photographs.
Have a clear and confident vision.
Print Editor
The Print Editor edits all written content. On top of having a clear grasp of the written word, the Print Editor is encouraged to establish close communication with all staff writers and remain sensitive and open-minded regarding subject matter. At their best, the Print Editor challenges staff writers to find their unique authorial voice while fostering an environment that welcomes vulnerability.
Expectations:
Edits all written content, with emphasis on print pieces.
Host writing workshops and threads cafe [will have lots of support from board]
Is an open line of communication between staff and board; possibly sets up one-on-one meetings with staff members to reach their goals.
Web Editor
The Web Editor edits all digital written content and assists the Print Editor in editing the print issue. Similarly to the Print Editor, the Web Editor must have a strong grasp over the writing process and be able to communicate effectively with staff members to achieve their writing requirements and goals. The Web Editor will serve to maintain threads’ digital presence.
Expectations:
Manage staff writers and make sure they reach the two-article minimum requirement.
Edits all written content, with emphasis on web pieces.
Host writing workshops and threads cafe [will have lots of support from board]
Finance & Logistics Director
The Finance & Logistics Director will serve as the primary point of contact for all financial matters including though not limited to: room bookings, fundraising, event planning, purchase requests/reimbursements, and all external communications. The Finance & Logistics Director will work with the Marketing Director to manage their responsibilities.
Expectations:
Budgeting for expenses such as Spring launch and printing.
Maintain communication with board about semester budgets.
Handle all external affairs.
Marketing & Social Media Director
The Marketing & Social Media Director is responsible for increasing engagement with all threads social media accounts, advertising events, and creating content to maximize community involvement. The Marketing & Social Media Director is primarily responsible for ensuring that threads’ presence resonates with the wider community.
Expectations:
Regularly post content on threads social media accounts to provide updates/garner interest in upcoming events and publications.
Assist in external communications.
Eye for detail and design.
Internal Affairs Director
The Internal Affairs Director handles all internal communications. The Internal Affairs Director is expected to oversee all relations among board and staff, plan social events, and take note of member attendance. The Internal Affairs Director must be able to survey various situations with sensitivity and care while maintaining professionalism. If necessary, the Internal Affairs Director will also be expected to mediate interpersonal conflicts.
Expectations:
Facilitates communication between board and staff via email and slack.
Take note of member attendance, social events, and encourage camaraderie.
Experience with conflict mediation.
Trustworthy, kind, and open-minded.
