PRINT WRITER
Description -
Print Writers are required to write one article per semester to be published in the magazine. Print Writers should expect to meet and communicate 1-2 times per month with their assigned Copy Editor, and anywhere from 5-15 rounds of edits before finalizing for publication. Articles run from 1000-1200 words. Print Writers will also be communicating with photographers and layout editors to ensure the article and design are in sync.
Requirements -
- College student.
- Strong and creative writing abilities.
ONLINE WRITER
Description -
Online Writers write anywhere from 1-3 articles per semester to be published online. Online Writers write more frequently than Print Writers, and should expect to meet at least once a month with their assigned Copy Editor and communicate regualrly with them. Online articles have more freedom with word count, and should expect 1-3 rounds of edits. Online articles are also more versatile in format, and can be anything from an article, blog post, reflection, etc. Online Writers will potentially be communicating with photographers and are responsible with communicating and updating the Web Manager when articles are finalized and ready to be published.

PHOTOGRAPHER
Description -
Photographers are responsible for planning and taking photos for all print articles and some online articles. They are assigned articles and managed by the Photo Editor, and should expect to think of photo ideas for articles in addition to taking them. The process also includes editing photos so that they conform to the overall desoign aesthetic of the magazine.
Requirements -
- College student.
- Strong communication.
- Photography experience.
- Experience with Ps and Lr is a plus.
LAYOUT DESIGNER
Description -
Layout Designers bring the magazine to life by brinigng articles and photos together, as well as integrating design in layout spreads. Layout Designers are assigned 1-2 print article(s) by the Layout Editor and are responsible for completing the design within 1 week of assignment. The Layout Editor and Board will then analyze and Layout Designers should expect 1-2 rounds of major edits, and smaller edits to be made at the discretion of the Layout Editor. The process generally takes 2-3 weeks.
Requirements -
- College student.
- Understanding of design and aesthetic.
- Experience in Id is strongly recommmended but not required; if you have a good eye for design, we will teach you.
- Experience in Ps and Ai is a plus.
GRAPHIC DESIGNER
Description -
Graphic Designers are responsible for creating supplementary graphics for online articles. This includes, but is not limited to, infographics and digital illustrations. Graphic Designers fall under the scope of both the Web Manager and Layout Editor, and operate under a request basis. Online Writers will request graphic materials for their pieces and Graphic Designers will either sign up or be assigned by the Layout Editor. Timing is flexible, but assignments should be completed with 1-3 days, and minor edits will be made at the discretion of the Layout Editor.

- Strong communication.
- Experience in Ps and Ai; if you have a good eye for design, we will teach you how to use Ps and Ai.
ILLUSTRATOR
Description -
Illustrators are responsible for creating supplementary graphics for online articles. No specific type of illustration is required, but style similar to that of The New Yorker is recommended. Illustrators fall under the scope of both the Web Manager and Layout Editor, and operate under a request basis. Online and Print Writers will request illustrations for their pieces and Illustrators will either sign up or be assigned by the Layout Editor. Timing for online articles is flexible, but assignments should be completed with 1-3 days. Minor edits will be made at the discretion of the Layout Editor.

MARKETER
Description -
Marketers will work under the lead of the Marketing Director to continually increase threads' readership, keep its audience engaged, and maximize profits via ads. Marketers should expect to negotiate with potential partners, regularly promote articles/content/events, and ensure that threads' presence resonates with its brand, as is defined by Board and the Marketing Director.

- Experience in marketing and onegotiating is a plus.
Logistics Director
Description -
The Logistics Director is responsible for managing logistics for threads magazine. This includes heading the planning for our launch party, booking rooms, coordinating meetings. They would also be responsible for planning socials for staff and board. The Logistics Director will also communicate with the board to complete tasks, complete administrative work, and work with ASUC to ensure good RSO standing.

- UC Berkeley student.

- Organized
- Experience with ASUC logistics is a plus
FINANCE MANAGER
Description -
The Finance Manager will serve as the primary contact for all money matters for threads. Responsibilities include the following: budgeting for expenses (launch party, printing, etc.), finding/writing grant proposals for scholarships, and filling out purchase requests/orders when needed.
